Facebook and Instagram will be an NFT marketplace

Facebook and Instagram will be an NFT marketplace

Meta, Facebook's parent company, plans to introduce non-fungible tokens NFT on the company's two major social networks, Facebook and Instagram.

Several people close to the company have reported that currently, Meta, the parent company of FB and IG, is working on new formats to allow users to create and sell NFTs, as well as display them on their profiles.

In addition to welcoming users of these digital assets, Meta intends to develop a tool that users can use to create and manage NFTs, and is also considering opening a digital marketplace to trade these assets.

This move comes shortly after Meta expressed in October last year its interest in introducing new revenue-generating models on Facebook, taking advantage of the launch of its new digital wallet Novi and everything seems to indicate that the exchange of non-fungible tokens will be supported by this digital service.

The CEO of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, was also interested in these assets since at the end of 2021 he announced through his 'stories' that from this social network they were "actively exploring NFTs" with the aim of "making them more accessible to a much wider audience".

It is worth remembering that other social networks, such as Twitter, have also turned to digital assets. The company of the blue canary announced in October 2021 that it was preparing a new tab to display NFT works on users' profiles.

And this is hardly surprising, as it is believed that NFTs will be the new "holy grail" of transactions in the metaverse, in which Meta is - obviously - a major player.

It seems that we are witnessing the birth of something very big as Bitcoin was in its time, of which those who dared to invest at its launching time are today mostly millionaires and it is very likely that NFTs will be the makers of the new millionaires of the near future.
