To date, more than 90% of all Bitcoin on the planet is in circulation, after the 19 millionth Bitcoin was mined on Friday, April 1, out of a total supply of 21 million.

Approximately every ten minutes, one block is mined on the Bitcoin network, increasing the circulating supply by 6.25 bitcoins.

To slow the rate of Bitcoin production, halvings are performed approximately every four years. Bitcoin halving is highly dependent on the rate at which cryptocurrencies are mined. 

After the 210,000th block is mined since the last halving, the reward will be halved once again and this is estimated to occur sometime between February and June 2024.

By 2026, we can expect to see a circulating supply of 20 million Bitcoin, and by 2140, the last available Bitcoin is expected to have been mined.

Maximize Your Earnings This Year

When the existing 21 million total Bitcoins have been mined, miners will still need to contribute to the Bitcoin network to keep it running.

Once the entire supply has been mined, miners will only receive a portion of the transaction fees people pay when sending transactions within the network.

So will bitcoin continue to be a good business? Perhaps, for those who have managed to accumulate enough of the currency.

Of course, it is uncertain to predict what the world will be like in the year 2140 and it is very likely that by that time, human beings will have found a different way of living, completely detached from the accumulation of capital and economic power.
